Pilates for Athletes

22 October 2017, Los Angeles

10am – 2pm

Join Sally for this workshop focusing on repertoire, programming strategies, and application techniques to enhance athletic pursuits and elite training needs. With a specific focus on how Pilates can care for and maximise results for athletes, we will include work with plyometrics, as well as Pilates studio relevance to key concepts such as periodisation, cross training, and support training.

Participants will take away specific sequences, essential applications and program ideas to immediately implement with their athletic clients. The workshop will be 4 hours and include ideas for swimmers, soccer/ball sports, golfers and athletics in general.

The workshop will be kept to small numbers (10-12 max) and provide ample opportunity for experiencing much of the content practically, as well as provide handouts and take-away sequences.

About Sally

Sally directs extensive business across the Pilates International studios and training centre (see below) as well as taking personal responsibility in overseeing specialist Pilates training for a myriad of A-list celebrities, tv and radio stars, rock stars, music theatre performers, dancers, Olympic swimmers and elite athletes. Sally toured nationally with Cirque du Soleil throughout 2011 as Pilates trainer for the production of Saltimbanco, and again for Totem in 2014-2015. She continues to work with commercial theatre acrobats and dancers on a regular basis, and a selection of long, long term Pilates devotees across sports and rock industry celebrities. Sally also works weekly with some of Australia’s leading internationally renowned surgeons and most notable medical doctors, who have become avid Pilates supporters under her guidance.

Sally was Pilates expert contributor for the Sunday Telegraph’s national body + soul weekly lift out for two years and has produced the first in a series of workout books, ‘Sally Anderson’s Matwork’.

Sally is the founder and director of Pilates International Pty Ltd, incorporating Pilates International Studios and Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesITC).

Since commencing the Pilates Method in the late 1980’s with master teacher and mentor Rael Isacowitz, Sally trained and delivered Pilates specialist education extensively in all continents of the world for Rael’s Body Arts & Science program (BASI), before returning to Australia and establishing the Pilates International organization. There are now four primary Pilates Int Studios throughout Sydney and Melbourne with affiliate studios and host sites in other states and locations.

Pilates International leads the way in the Australasian Pilates industry, through development and implementation of Pilates specialist government registered education as well as ongoing research, consultation, lobbying and negotiation of industry specific regulations and requirements. Since 2000 Sally has been at the forefront of implementing standards and establishing transparent structures for professional work practices that have created a foundation for recognition of the Pilates profession.

In 2013 Sally has led Pilates International into a prized collaboration with Canberra University, to articulate PilatesITC courses to higher education Bachelor degrees.

Pilates International Training Centre (PilatesITC) was the first Pilates training organization to achieve government registration in May 2004, and has developed the highest level qualifications available, setting the benchmark for Pilates government registered training and education.

PilatesITC owns and delivers the formal qualifications including the Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method, the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction, and the Certificate in Pilates Matwork Instruction, and has licensed the use of these course curriculums to a number of private RTO’s and TAFE Colleges throughout Australia and Asia.

Sally has continued to travel extensively over recent years to deliver not only the formal qualifications, but also to deliver continuing education to Pilates professionals in the USA, Asia Pacific and Australia, and to consult widely on the future development of the Pilates industry both nationally and internationally. She is an invited presenter on Pilates Anytime, has featured in Pilates Style Magazine, and has presented for the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA), the Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) and co-founded the Mind Your Body annual conference.
